This is manne (food) from my country. The name of that plant is manbingkanj, cheeky yam. It’s from the saltwater country. It’s an edible plant, but it is a sacred thing from the Mardayin ceremony. I have adapted it to make it a secular version. This painting is from Kukadjdjerre, upstream from Kurrurldurl on Kuninjku country. It is an important Dreaming place on my country.
