Explications pour cette œuvre :

Kungkarangkalpa is Minyma Tjuta Tjukurpa (Many Women Creation Line) and is a major women’s songline that traverses vast tracts of traditional Spinifex Land and beyond. This is a Creation narrative with a man at the center but it is truly a women’s story, full of spiritual insight and knowledge for the journey into adulthood. It recounts the long and arduous journey that a group of young women make whilst under constant pursuit of a lustful man (Wati Nyiru) who wishes to take the eldest girl (Kampukurta), for his wife.

Ngalpingka Simms (1945) is a senior artist whose country is Wayilul near present day Patjarr community in the north of Ngaanyatjarra Lands and the northern reaches of the Gibson Desert. Here, she depicts the significant site of Wayilul and nearby Tika-Tika where the women encounter footprints belonging to Wati Nyiru.
