Explications pour cette œuvre :
Ned Grant (1941) intertwines himself within the landscape, unable to separate. He is a manifestation of the enormity of place that is Spinifex Land. With all of its labyrinthine religion within the physical, the flora, the fauna, the manta (ground). He moves under it, through it, above it, encompassing all. Religion is everywhere, it is sung, it is danced by firelight and it resides in and drives Ned Grant to paint.
In this composition, Ned focused on the site of Mulpula and its surrounding rockholes. Ned represents Mulpula by the smallest of rockholes. The story at Mulpula is sacred and Ned does not divulge many details. The other rock holes nearby such as Yuwar hold the Tjintir-Tjintirpa Tjukurpa (Willy Wagtail Creation Line) a religious narrative that follows the unfolding events of Minyma Tjintir-Tjintirpa (Willy Wagtail Woman), whose name is Yina, as she traverses the surrounding terrain, leaving behind the drama in the physical realm. These sites were created by the first beings who shaped the landscape as they journeyed through it. Leaving a moral narrative etched into the physical environment that is both religion and song.
